Nevada Defeats Baseball 5-4

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs battled back from three runs down to cut the Nevada lead to one run, but were unable to score the runs they needed to win in the bottom of the ninth. Zach Minor was credited with the loss to drop his record to 6-3, while Mateo Miramontes pitched a complete game to earn his 6-1 record for the Wolf Pack.
Nevada Put the Bulldogs in a hole early when the scored two runs in the top of the first. Bo Bryant hit a two run home run to give the Wolf Pack a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the first the Bulldogs responded with one run on a triple by Brandon Gemoll that scored Joey Myers to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Nevada added one run in the top of the third when Michael Hass hit a solo home run to give the Wolf Pack a 3-1 lead. In the top of the fifth, the Wolf Pack scored two runs on a double by Chris Dickerson to give Nevada 5-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Josh Labandeira belted a solo home run his eighth of the season to trim the Nevada lead to 5-2. Two innings later in the eighth Oscar Lopez hit a leadoff home run, his fourth of the season. Four batters later Brad Harper doubled to score Brandon Gemoll making the score 5-4 a final.
The Bulldogs are now 22-15 overall and 8-7 in the WAC heading into Tuesday evenings match-up with in-state rival Saint Mary's. Fist pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Pete Beiden Field.
