Track and Field Women Win Air Force Elite Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Fresno State track and field team finished the final day of competition at the Air Force Elite Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26. The women won the invitational combining for 126 points, while the men finished in sixth with 40 ?.
Topping all performances on the day was freshman Crystal Phillips, who captured second and third places in the sprints. Her personal-best time of 7.53 in the 60-meter dash was good for second place. Later she clocked a season-best 24.73 in the 200-meter dash and captured third place. In the pole vault, sophomore Lexine Lesser finished in first place with a NCAA provisional and personal-best height of 12-5 ?.
For the men, senior indoor competitor Ryan Beckenhauer, threw a personal-best and NCAA provisional mark of 59-7 ?. His mark also landed him first place.
More than 500 athletes and 13 schools competed at the invitational. Among those teams were Colorado, Air Force, Brigham Young, Alabama, Wyoming and Oral Roberts.
The Bulldogs will compete next in a tri-meet with Northern Arizona and UC Irvine, Saturday, Feb. 2, in Flagstaff, Ariz.
