- The victory is Hawai'i's first ever at Bulldog Stadium and first in Fresno since 1973. Fresno State still leads the all-time series 18-16-1.
- The crowd of 37,615 was the smallest at Bulldog Stadium since Oct. 23, 1999, when Fresno State drew 36,405 for a 24-23 overtime win over UTEP.
- Tonight's loss was just the third home conference loss under Hill. Fresno State is 20-3 at home in WAC games.
- The Bulldogs trailed at halftime of a game at Bulldog Stadium for the first time since Sept. 26, 1998, when Fresno State was down to Nevada 14-7 at the break. The Bulldogs lost that game 27-24.
- Dee Meza's blocked punt for a touchdown was Fresno State's first blocked punt of the year. It marked the 37th time in the Pat Hill Era the Bulldogs have blocked a punt or kick. It was also Meza's first career touchdown.
- Meza's play was also the 13th time since Hill took over in 1997 the Bulldogs have scored a special teams TD and the fifth punt or kick they have blocked and returned for a score.
- Duncan Reid finished with four catches for 47 yards. His four catches ties a career high.
- Four of Jason Simpson's five punts were downed inside the 20, and three were inside the 5.
- The five sacks Fresno State allowed were a season high.
- Marque Davis' touchdown grab was the ninth of his career.
- Tyrone Culver's fourth quarter interception was the first of his career.
- Fresno State scored just seven points in the first half, tying a season low.
- Hawai'i's six points scored in the first half was a season low for the opening 20 minutes.
- Fresno State's 13 penalties were a season high. It marked the fourth time in 2002 the Bullldogs have posted a double-figure total in penalties.
