
Football Shuts Down Tulsa 31-12

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Paul Pinegar threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score as Fresno State strengthened its chance for a bowl bid with a 31-12 victory over Tulsa on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (5-5, 3-2 WAC) limited the Golden Hurricane (1-9, 1-5) to 226 total yards.
Rodney Davis ran for 145 yards on 31 carries, his fifth 100-yard game this year, and went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. His brother, Marque Davis, caught a season-high eight passes for 88 yards.
Pinegar, who completed 21 of 32 passes with two interceptions, was responsible for two scores in the second quarter to extend the Bulldogs' halftime lead to 28-6.
Eric Richardson ran for two scores for Tulsa.
Pinegar was 8-of-9 for 131 yards in the first quarter, leading two touchdown drives. Davis capped the Bulldogs' first scoring drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. Pinegar hit Jermaine Jamison on a 12-yard TD slant later in the quarter.
Midway through the second quarter, Tulsa capitalized on Fresno State's fourth turnover of the half. Two plays after an interception put the Golden Hurricane at Fresno State's 12-yard line, Richardson ran for a 2-yard score.
Tulsa began the second half with a 19-play, 77-yard drive that lasted 9:57 and ended with a 1-yard Richardson touchdown.
Tulsa sophomore James Killian, making his first career start in place of injured Tyler Gooch, went 10-of-25 for 82 yards.
