FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (12-12) remained unbeaten in the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic with an 18-8 victory over Fordham (2-10) Thursday night. The Bulldogs scored double digits in runs for the third straight game. The 18 runs and hits were a season-high.
"We're playing great right now. We're remaining aggressive and everybody seems to be clicking," said junior outfielder Joey Myers (Fresno, Calif.).
Myers was one of four Bulldog hitters to homer on the day. He would finish with four RBIs on two hits and two runs scored.
FS failed to score in only two innings on the night, getting two runs four times and four in in the third and three in the final two innings.
The trio of juniors designated hitter Brian Pierce (Fresno, Calif.), Myers, and sophomore outfielder Christian Hallaian (Fresno, Calif.) combined for 13 RBIs on the night.
Hallaian, who came in the game fifth inning, had two doubles with six RBIs in the game.
Freshman RHP Matt Scott (Merced, Calif.) earned his first win as a Bulldog going 3.2 innings in relief allowing just one run.
Sophomore LHP Mike Hernandez earned his fourth save of the season pitching the final 2.1 innings while not allowing a run. In the Classic, Hernandez, has three saves on 6.1 innings of work while not allowing a run.
Through four days in the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic, Pierce has led FS at the plate, belting three home runs with six RBIs. He is batting .500 (6-12) so far in the tournament.
Fordham was led by shorstop Conlisk, who went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored, including a home run which came in the first inning.
RHP Baco suffered the loss going four innings while allowing 10 runs, all being earned.
