FRESNO, Calif. - Competition in the Blue Gray Collegiate Classic began yesterday for Fresno State as they faced off against Tulane. After losing two doubles matches, with Nick Fustar and Dustin Ilic falling to Michael Kogan and Victor Romero 8-2 and Alex Krohn and Greg Shearer losing to Hannu Piiroinen and Jorge Lievano 8-2, the No. 3 match was discontinued due to time constraints.
In singles, No. 14 Kogan def. No. 114 Fustar with a 6-0, 6-3 finish. At the No. 4 position, Shearer lost to Lievano 6-0, 6-1. Dustin Ilic, at the No. 6 spot, was knocked off by Piiroinen 6-2, 6-3. Hector Almada at No. 2, Stefan Suta at No. 3 and Alex Krohn at No. 5 did not finish their matches since the match point had already been won.
Play will continue today with Fresno State meeting up with Louisville, who fell in a shut out against Illinois.
