Baseball Swept By No. 19 Nebraska

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (6-11) suffered its first sweep of the season, falling 10-6 against Nebraska (6-3) in game three. After scoring just one run in its previous two games in the series against Nebraska, FS scored six Saturday afternoon, but allowed a series-high 10.
Senior RHP Zach Minor (Walnut Creek, Calif.) suffered his second loss of the season going five innings while giving up seven runs on nine hits.
Nebraska kept chipping away at the Bulldogs scoring two runs in the first, second, sixth and ninth inning. They scored a run in the third and eighth inning.
Cornhusker designated hitter Jed Morris popped a two-run homer in the first inning to get Nebraska on the board.
Nebraska would get two more in the second on a two-run single up the middle by outfielder Jell Leise to up the lead to 4-0.
Fresno State responded in its half of the second scoring six. Junior second baseman T.J. Boyd (Kingsburg, Calif.) got the rally started with an RBI single that drove in senior outfielder Tobey Riday-White (Berkeley, Calif.).
The Bulldogs got two more on a bases loaded walk to sophomore shortstop Chris Patrick (Fresno, Calif.) and a sacrifice fly by freshman outfielder Jordan Prieto (Clovis, Calif.).
Junior first baseman Ben Fritz (San Jose, Calif.) capped off the inning with his fourth home run of the season, which drove in three runs and gave FS the 6-4 lead.
The lead would last until the sixth inning when the Cornhuskers added two runs off RBI hits by second baseman Jeff Blevins and catcher John Grose.
Nebraska would seal the deal with a pair of runs in the ninth inning off a Blevins single and an error by Fritz, which had moved to catcher from first base.
The Bulldogs will be in action against San Jose State next weekend March 8-10, at Beiden Field.
