Men's Tennis Takes Down Pacific in Regular Season Finale

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State ended its regular season in style with a 6-1 defeat of Pacific at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The victory brings the Bulldogs' record to 7-15 heading into this week's WAC Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Doubles was a breeze for Fresno State, which claimed victories in all three matches. The team of Nick Fustar and Dustin Ilic at No. 1 defeated Pacific's Junaid Hossain and Niclas Otte 8-6. Also winning were Hector Almada and Stefan Suta at No. 2 and Alex Krohn and Greg Shearer at No. 3.
Fresno State pummeled the Tigers at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 and grinded out victories at Nos. 2 and 5. Almada got the ball rolling for the Bulldogs with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Hossain. Suta was next off with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Maxime Lacroix, giving FS a 3-0 lead. Ilic clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 over Greg Rietsch.
At No. 5, Shearer had a tough second set but toughed out a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win. And in his last home match, the senior Fustar came through against Otte at No. 2 by the scores of 7-5, 0-6, 6-4.
The WAC Tournament is up next for Fresno State. The Bulldogs begin play Friday against an opponent to be determined.
