FRESNO, Calif. - In a recent poll conducted by USA Baseball, Fresno State tied with North Carolina as the 13th-ranked program in collegiate baseball. The poll was based on numbers of players produced to be on the USA National Team and participation and years a program has had a player on the team the past 19 years.
The Bulldogs have produced six players in that span and have had at least one player on the national team seven times. The last players to play on the USA National Team were pitchers Jeff Weaver and Adam Pettyjohn. In 1996, Weaver was a member of the USA squad that won a bronze medal in Atlanta.
The other two Bulldogs to participate on a USA Olympic team were outfielder Tom Goodwin, who won a gold medal in 1988, and pitcher John Hoover, who was a silver-medalist in 1984.
