McCaffrey Group Becomes 2004 WAC Basketball Tournament Title Sponsor

FRESNO, Calif. - With the 2004 WAC men's and women's basketball tournament less than 150 days away, the Fresno State Athletics Department announced today a title sponsor for the event, which will be played March 8-13, 2004, at the new Save Mart Center.
Athletics Director Scott Johnson announced the McCaffrey Group has reached an agreement with Fresno State and the Western Athletic Conference to be the title sponsor and the tournament will bear the name 2004 McCaffrey WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament.
"We are very pleased to have the McCaffrey Group as title sponsors for the WAC's showcase event," said athletics director Scott Johnson. "The McCaffrey Group and the McCaffrey Family have been important to the success of the Bulldogs over the years. We are proud to have them as title sponsors for this great event and involved with Bulldog basketball for years to come."
As Valley natives and avid supporters of the Fresno community, the McCaffrey Group is proud to be a part of bringing the WAC tournament back to Fresno. The McCaffrey Group has sponsored Fresno State's in-season basketball tournament since 1999. This agreement also extends the sponsor of the regular season basketball tournament through 2012. This commitment is a symbol of the McCaffrey Group's continuing dedication to the central Valley, and will provide an optimal opportunity to showcase the Valley in a positive light.

Through that involvement, we recognized an opportunity to relive the excitement of the 2000 WAC tournament when Fresno State last hosted the event," states McCaffrey Group's president, Robert McCaffrey. "As Valley natives, we are grateful to have the opportunity to be the title sponsors of the 2004 WAC tournament, bringing it back to Fresno and the Valley."

The WAC tournament was last held in Fresno in 2000, when the Bulldogs men's team won the event and advanced to the NCAA tournament. That tournament was held at Selland Arena. The 2004 McCaffrey WAC Tournament will be held at Fresno State's new 16,000-seat Save Mart Center.
