Golf Heads South to Elco/CSUB Invitational

BULLDOGS TRAVEL TO BAKERSFIELD FOR JV TOURNAMENT
The Bulldogs are competing in Bakersfield, Calif. at the Elco/CSUB JV Invitational this week. There will be 18 teams competing on the par-71 and 6,470 yard golf course, located at Stockdale Country Club. The 'Dogs that are competing are sophomore Tyler Sanders, junior George McKean , sophomore Ryan McDonald, freshman Gunnar Avinelis and freshman Paul Imondi.
BULLDOGS FINISHED SEVENTH AT SAN DIEGO
Fresno State traveled south to the Barona Collegiate Classic hosted by San Diego State. The Bulldogs finished seventh out of the 18-team field with an 855 (289-282-284). Colorado State captured the title with an 836, while UTEP garnered second with an 842. Individually, senior Chad Spencer led the 'Dogs with a 207 (68-70-69) tying for fifth. Junior Ryan Carter tied for 18th with a 212 (69-73-70). Freshman Daniel Buell tied for 43rd with a 218 (77-69-72), while sophomore Mark Modglin tied for 52nd with a 221 (76-72-73) and senior Jeremy Moreno tied for 73rd with a 225 (76-71-78). Playing as an individual, freshman Dusty Diedrich tied for 32nd with a 215 (72-73-70). "I do believe it was our best tournament of the fall season," head coach Mike Watney said. "It was kind of heartbreaking having two teams finish one stroke in front of us."
BULLDOGS FINISH NINTH AT ALISTER MACKENZIE IVITATIONAL
The Bulldogs traveled to Fairfax, Calif., to compete in the 15-team Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by California. The tournament was played at the 54-hole, par-71 Meadow Club golf course. The Bulldogs finished ninth after the final round of the 15-team Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by California with an 864 (284-297-283). California captured the championship with an 833, while Northwestern and UCLA tied for second place with a 206. Individually, junior Ryan Carter (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) led the 'Dogs with a 211 (71-70-69) tying for 12th. Senior Chad Spencer (Rocklin, Calif.) tied for 15th with a 212 (71-70-71), senior Jeremy Moreno (Visalia, Calif.) tied for 44th with a 219 (71-79-69), freshman Daniel Buell (San Carlos, Calif.) tied for 58th with a 222 (72-76-74) and sophomore Dusty Diedrich (Clovis, Calif.) tied for 73rd with a 227 (72-80-75). Steve Conway of UCLA captured the title with a 200 (67-65-68) and Scott Carlyle of California garnered second with a 206 (67-72-67). Fresno State captured the title last year with an 841 finish, while individually former Bulldog Nick Watney garnered the title with a 202.

The Bulldogs finished seventh at their only home fall tournament Oct. 10-11 with a final score of 858 (288-281-289). Colorado State captured the title with an 831 (281-271-279), while San Diego State finished second with 834 (285-272-277). Individually, junior Ryan Carter led the 'Dogs tying for 27th with 215 (76-67-72). Senior Chad Spencer tied for 33rd with 217 (72-73-72). Playing individually, sophomore Dusty Deidrich tied for 43rd with 219 (77-69-73). Also playing individually, freshman Daniel Buell tied for 51st with 221 (70-71-80). Sophomore Mark Modglin tied for 60th with a 223 (73-77-73). Sophomore Tyler Sanders, also playing individually, tied for 67th with 225 (78-69-78). Junior George McKean (225=72-75-78) and sophomore Ryan McDonald (225=74-73-78) tied for 67th. Also playing individually, sophomore Gunnar Avinelis tied for 88th with a 231 (76-80-75) and freshman Paul Imondi finished 94th with a 238 (75-80-83). Nolan Martin of Colorado State captured the individual title with a 204 (68-68-68), while Andrew Scott of San Diego State finished second with a 205 (69-66-70).
