FRESNO, Calif. - Riding its first winning streak of the season, Fresno State tips off WAC play tonight against Hawaii. The Bulldogs are 4-5 and have won two in a row, including a 52-43 victory over San Francisco one week ago. The Rainbow Warriors were 7-2 heading into their game Tuesday against Fairfield, the championship game of the Rainbow Classic.
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 11-9, although Hawaii has dominated the series as of late. The Rainbow Warriors have won five of the last six against Fresno State, with the only loss coming last year at Selland Arena. It has been on the road that UH has picked up the majority of its wins. The Bulldogs are 4-6 all-time on the island, with their last win coming during the 1999-00 year.
Since joining the Western Athletic Conference before the 1992-93 season, Fresno State has gone 8-3 in league openers. The Bulldogs are 2-3 when playing the WAC lid-lifter on the road. Fresno State last started the WAC ledger on the road in 2002, when it fell at Hawaii 83-73.
