Men's Tennis Ranked 61st in Latest Rankings

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team moved up to No. 17 in the latest Omni Hotels collegiate tennis rankings, released today.
The Bulldogs (2-1) were 23rd last week but jumped six spots by virtue of their 6-1 victory over then-No. 15 UNLV last week. The current ranking is the highest Fresno State has been in the polls since March 19, 2002, when it checked in at No. 16.
Duke is the No. 1 team in the nation, followed by Florida, USC, California and Stanford. Three other WAC teams appear in the rankings ? Tulsa (42nd), Boise State (58th) and SMU (68th).
On the men's side, the Bulldogs (3-2) moved up one spot to No. 61. Fresno State went 2-0 last week with victories over Sacramento State and San Francisco.
UCLA is the No. 1-ranked men's team. Illinois, Baylor, California and Mississippi follow the Bruins. Four other WAC schools are ranked in the top 75 ? Rice (35th), SMU (38th), Tulsa (55th) and Boise State (75th).
Both the men's and women's teams have difficult weeks ahead of them. The women travel to Mobile, Ala., for a neutral site match against No. 38 Mississippi on Saturday. Fresno State then plays host and 19th-ranked South Alabama on Sunday. The Jaguars currently have a 52-match home court winning streak.
The men travel to the Bay Area for a match Saturday against No. 7 Stanford then another Sunday at No. 4 California.
