Trevor Chatterton Leads Decathlon At Halfway Point

EL PASO, Texas- Junior Trevor Chatterton (Concord, Calif.) stands in first place among competitors in the men's decathlon through the first day of action at the 2003 WAC Championships.
Chatterton has tallied 3,508 total points to lead a field of five athletes, which includes two other Bulldogs. Freshman David Frazeur (Mission Viejo, Calif.) stands in second place with 3,409 points, while sophomore Leif McMurry (Clovis, Calif.) is in fifth place with 2,709.
Chatterton won the long jump with a mark of 6.86m (22-06.25) and 400-meter dash by clocking in at 51.79.
In the women's heptathlon, junior Katie Christianson (Indian Wells, Calif.) finds herself in third place among a group of nine entrants. Christianson, who has amassed 3,072 points, captured first place honors in the 100-meter hurdles (14.30) and 200-meter dash (24.62).
Freshman Tonisha Henson (Long Beach, Calif.) checks in seventh with 2,554 points.
The second half of the multi-events continues Thursday morning, with the men's decathlon beginning at 9 a.m. and the women's heptathlon starting at 10 a.m.
