Golf Selected as No. 12 Seed at NCAA West Regional

FRESNO, Calif.- The 2002-03 golf team has been chosen as one of the 27 teams invited to compete in the NCAA West Regional in Seattle, Wash., May 15-17. This will be the 25th time that head coach Mike Watney has led the Bulldogs to a NCAA appearance.
The teams seeded are UCLA (1), UNLV (2), Arizona (3), Georgia (4), Arizona State (5), Washington (6), New Mexico (7), Southern California (8), Pepperdine (9), San Diego State (10), California (11), Fresno State (12), UC Irvine (13), Brigham Young (14), Colorado State (15), UTEP (16), Denver (17), Oregon (18), Austin Peay (19), Stanford (20), Oregon State (21), Old Dominion (22), Xavier (23), Oral Roberts (24), Navy (25), Central Connecticut State (26) and Loyola (27).
The Bulldogs most recent victory was in Houston when they captured the WAC championship title, along with senior Nick Watney finishing second with 208 (73-66-69) (4-4-5) after a sudden death match with Tulsa's David Inglis 208 (68-69-71) (4-4-4).
The top 10 teams and two individuals from each of the three NCAA Regionals qualify for the 2003 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, which is scheduled for May 29-31 in Stillwater, Ok.
