Bulldog Update
The women's squad will be represented at the 2003 NCAA Championships when junior Kara June competes in the steeplechase during the week of July 11-14 in Sacramento, Calif. June clocked in at 10:51.78 in the steeplechase during NCAA West Regionals on May 31, good for 14th overall in the second section of athletes. While that mark does not automatically qualify her for NCAA Championships, June earned a wild-card entry into the event as a result of her 10:25.47 time (achieved back on Apr. 17) being one of the nation's top marks overall.

2003 WAC Championship Recap
After winning the title in 2002, the Bulldogs dropped to eighth place overall and notched 61 total points during the 2003 WAC Outdoor Championships in El Paso, Texas on May 17. A fourth-place finish was the best of the day for the women's squad, as the Bulldogs accomplished the feat twice. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Sunny Arada, Katie Christianson, Jennifer Tyler and Crystal Phillips clocked in at a season-high 3:47.15. The other fourth-place effort on the women's side had senior Lisa Krauter throw a 45.31m in the discus. La'Sha Hill continued her impressive rookie season by registering a 45-10.00 (13.97m) in the shot put, an NCAA qualifying mark.
Katie Christianson Finishes Fourth In Heptathlon
Katie Christianson tallied 4,839 points to finish fourth and lead the Bulldogs in the event through the first two days of the 2003 WAC Outdoor Championships. Christianson captured medals in two events: 100-meter hurdles (14.30) and 200-meter dash (24.62). Tonisha Henson was the other Bulldog entrant and she took seventh on the afternoon with 4,245 total points.
Lesser Is More
After owning the top pole vaulting mark in the conference all season long, Lexine Lesser had an opportunity to maintain her mark at the WAC Outdoor Championships. And finishing in second place behind Rice's Elizabeth Hinshaw, Lesser improved her NCAA Regional qualifying status with a season-high mark of 3.96m (12-11.75). She finished with the best mark on the Bulldog depth chart and accompanied Annie Malaythong (3.70m) at the 2003 NCAA West Regional Championships.
