Watney Named Ping All-America First Team

NORMAN, Okla.- The Golf Association of America (GCAA) announced the award recipients for Division I May 30 in Stillwater, Okla. Among the honors that were announced was the Jack Nicklaus Award, which senior Nick Watney was in the running for. Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan was the honored player to receive the Jack Nicklaus Award.
Watney earned Ping All-America first team along with Arizona's Ricky Barnes, North Carolina's Dustin Bray, Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares, Wake Forest's Bill Haas, Washington's Brock MacKenzie, Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan, Georgia Tech's Troy Matteson, Arizona's Chris Nallen, Vanderbilt's Brandt Snedeker and Clemson's D.J. Trahan.
Watney and junior Chad Spencer also earned Ping All-Region Southwest Team as well as UTEP's Chris Baryla, New Mexico's Jay Choi, Denver's Barrett Jarosch, San Diego State's Lars Johansson, Colorado State's Martin Laird, New Mexico's Michael Letzig, BYU's Greg Machtaler, New Mexico's Ian Medlock, Colorado State's Nolan Martin, BYU's Daniel Summerhays, UTEP's Dan Swanson, San Diego State's Mark Warman and Denver's Shawn Wills.
