FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State returns home to host Louisiana Tech in the WAC opener for both teams. The Bulldogs and La Tech square off Saturday at 7 p.m. Fresno State enters this week 1-2 while Louisiana Tech is 2-1 after last week's victory at Michigan State. The game will be televised by KFRE WB 59 (cable 5), with Trey Bender and Randy Rosenbloom calling the action.
Fresno State is 8-3 in WAC openers and a perfect 6-0 under Pat Hill in conference lid-lifters. Of those 11 previous league opening games, only four have been at Bulldog Stadium. Fresno State has never lost a WAC opener on its own turf. The Bulldogs have not lost a conference home opener since Oct. 3, 1981, when they fell 65-33 to San Jose State.
Fresno State leads the all-time series 4-0, the last meeting coming in the 2002 regular season finale, a game won by the Bulldogs 45-13 in Ruston, La. Of the previous four meetings between the two schools, three have come at Bulldog Stadium. La Tech last visited Fresno in 2001 and gave the Bulldogs quite a test, eventually falling to 10th-ranked Fresno State 38-28.
