Ray Named WAC Special Teams Player of the Week

DENVER - Boise State quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie, Nevada linebacker Logan Carter and Fresno State defensive back Nate Ray were named the Western Athletic Conference offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.
Dinwiddie, a senior from Elk Grove, Calif. (Elk Grove HS), completed 27-of-38 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns with one interception in a 33-17 win over Wyoming. His passing efficiency rating for the game was 163.5. The win for Boise State was its 14th straight at home.
Carter, a sophomore from Grass Valley, Calif. (Nevada Union HS), made 12 tackles including one sack and returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in Nevada's 12-9 win over SMU. It was the Wolf Pack's only touchdown of the game.
Ray, a junior from Colfax, Calif. (Colfax HS), scored on a 70-yard fumble return on the first play of the game in the Bulldog's 42-16 win over Portland State. Fresno State's Bernard Berrian took the opening kickoff to the 30-yard line where he fumbled. Ray picked it up and ran 70 yards for the touchdown.
Other offensive nominees included sophomore running back Bryson Sumlin, Fresno State; junior quarterback Timmy Chang, Hawaii; junior running back Chance Kretschmer, Nevada; sophomore wide receiver Marcus Battle, Rice; senior running back Keylon Kincade, SMU; and junior running back Howard Jackson, UTEP.
On the defensive side, nominees included sophomore safety Brad Allen, Boise State; senior defensive end Claude Sanders, Fresno State; sophomore linebacker Ikaika Curnan, Hawaii; senior linebacker Brandon Boyd, Rice; and sophomore free safety Alvin Nnabuife, SMU.
Special teams nominations included freshman punter Kyle Stringer, Boise State; junior defensive back Abraham Elimimian, Hawaii; senior punter Derek Jones, Nevada; and freshman punter Jared Scruggs, Rice.
