FRESNO, Calif. - Andy Sinn and Charles Irie are the only Bulldogs still alive in the Wilson/ITA West Regional Championships, being played through Monday at Stanford.
Rain hampered play on both Saturday and Sunday. Matches were forced indoors and play didn't finish until very late on Saturday. When everything was settled, things did not turn out well for Fresno State. Irie, Charles Irie and Jakub Cech all dropped their third round matches in straight sets and fell into the consolation bracket.
The good news was Irie and Sinn, who won their first round match over Blake Roberts and Jayce Fitch of UC Davis 8-2. In the second round, they knocked off Portland's Alex Strom and Colby Jager 8-6.
In the round of 16, Irie/Sinn will face fourth-seeded Tyler Brown and Daniel Sebescen of California.
Due to the rain, consolation matches have been postponed.
