Griffin Named WAC Pitcher of the Week
David Griffin was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week for February 2-8 ... Griffin pitched a career-high 7.2 innings and limited third-ranked Stanford to just two hits in a 3-1 Fresno State win last Friday ... The Chowchilla, Calif., native gave up one unearned run and walked three while striking out five to earn the win in the Bulldogs' season opener ... In addition, Griffin retired the side in order in five of the eight innings he pitched in ... Griffin bested 2003 National Freshman of the Year Mark Romanczuk ... The honor was the first of Griffin's career and the first for Fresno State since April 22, 2002, when Ben Fritz received the accolade.
