What's Coming Up
Take one look at the upcoming schedule above, and it's easy to see the 14th-ranked Bulldogs (10-2) will be very busy the next couple of weeks. Beginning Tuesday with a contest against No. 74 Kansas State at the Wathen Tennis Center at 1 p.m., Fresno State has four matches in a seven-day stretch. Two of those are at home while two crucial matchups against nationally-ranked opponents - No. 33 Arizona and No. 22 Harvard - take place in Tucson, Ariz.
What Just Happened
Fresno State improved to 4-0 at home this year with a pair of 7-0 victories over No. 72 Minnesota and No. 50 Missouri. Jelena Pandzic, Lucia Tallo, Katharina Winterhalter and Lucia Sainz all went 2-0 in both singles and doubles in the wins. The Bulldogs have now won nine of their last 10.
All-Time vs. This Week's Opponents
Fresno State has recent experience against each of this week's opponents. The Bulldogs are 1-0 all-time against Arizona, with the first and only meeting coming last year at the Wathen Tennis Center, a 4-3 Fresno State win. The team is 4-6 all-time against UC Santa Barbara and 2-0 against Kansas State. The last meetings against UCSB and KSU came in 2001 at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Dominating in Doubles
Fresno State has established itself as owners of one of the top doubles units in the nation in the past two years. The Bulldogs closed out the 2003 dual match season by winning the doubles point in the last 11 matches. This year, the results have been no different. Fresno State has claimed a 1-0 lead thanks to solid doubles play in nine of 11 matches, meaning in the last 22 matches in which doubles was competed, the Bulldogs have claimed the point 20 times. This year, Fresno State is 9-0 when winning the point and 0-2 when it does not.
Heavy Home Schedule
Fresno State is 4-0 in home matches, something important given the team's schedule the rest of the way. The Bulldogs play five of their last eight contests at home.
