Bulldogs Take Series Finale From Louisiana Tech, 12-4

FRESNO, Calif. - Nick Moresi hit two home runs and tallied a team season high five RBI in Fresno State's 12-4 win over Louisiana Tech in the rubber match of the series Sunday at Beiden Field. The series victory was the first for Fresno State this season while Bulldogs head coach Mike Batesole recorded career win No. 300.
Fresno State improved to 14-20 overall and 2-4 in the WAC while Louisiana Tech dropped to 12-21 on the year and 3-6 in conference play.
Moresi socked a three-run homer to left in the third and led off the seventh with another blast over the left field fence. The multi-homer performance was the first of the year for the Bulldogs. Moresi also hit a run scoring double in the Bulldogs' five run eighth to finish 3-4 on the afternoon. Freshman infielder Christian Vitters belted his fourth homer of the year with a two-run shot in the eighth.
Fresno State freshman southpaw Brandon Miller (2-3) scattered four runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out two over 5 1/3 innings to earn his second victory of the year. Junior left hander Jacob Ball tossed two scoreless innings in relief to notch his first career save.
Tech starter Matt Lacy (1-4) was touched for five runs on six hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings to suffer the loss. Mims Boyce (4-5) had a game high four hits including a run scoring double to lead the club at the plate.
The Bulldogs play their final non-conference game of the season at UC Irvine Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
