Bulldogs Prepare To Host WAC Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State prepares to host the 2004 WAC Golf Championships May 3-5 at the San Joaquin Country Club (6,840 yards/Par 71) in Fresno, Calif. This is the Bulldogs' first time hosting the tournament since 1994.
Tee times begin at 9 a.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by an awards ceremony on the final day of competition. Each team will play 18 holes per day.
The 10-team field includes Boise State, Hawai'i, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, Rice, San Jose State, SMU, UTEP, Tulsa and defending champion and host school, Fresno State. The Bulldogs have won two of the last four WAC Tournament Championships.
The 'Dogs will begin their round on the back nine beginning at 9:20 a.m.
The Fresno State lineup will include seniors Chad Spencer and Jeremy Moreno, juniors George McKean and Ryan Carter, and sophomore Mark Modglin.
Spencer boasts a 71.85 stroke average and a senior season that includes one tournament win, 12 rounds under par and nine tournament totals of 218 or better. Moreno has a 73.97 stroke average, has shot eight rounds under par and four tournament totals of 220 or better. Spencer placed third at last year's WAC Championship, shooting five under par.
Tulsa's senior David Inglis has won three consecutive WAC Tournament individual titles, including a win over Fresno State All-American Nick Watney in 2003, after a playoff on the third hole.
