Vitters and Moresi Garner Freshman All-American Honors

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State third baseman Christian Vitters and outfielder Nick Moresi were named "Louisville Slugger" Freshmen All-Americans Collegiate Baseball announced Friday.

Vitters and Moresi are the first Bulldog Freshman All-Americans since Casey McGehee earned honorable mention accolades in 2001 from Baseball America. Pitcher Mike Hernandez was the last Bulldog to garner such honors from Collegiate Baseball as an honorable mention honoree in 2000. It is also the first time in school history that Fresno State has had two Freshman All-Americans in the same year.

A first-team All-WAC selection, Vitters batted .318 with nine home runs and 42 RBI this season. He finished the year tied for fifth in the WAC in home runs, eighth in total bases (111) and tied for tenth in RBI while starting all 58 of the Bulldogs' games. Moresi hit .311 with seven homers and 31 RBI and paced the team with seven outfield assists to earn second-team all-conference honors.
