FRESNO, Calif. - Greg Shearer and Stefan Suta have been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic Team for their achievements during the 2003-04 school year. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year). Shearer, a junior, is a two-time Academic All-WAC honoree who was Fresno State's top singles player last year. He went 15-13 (9-9 dual) and spent the majority of the campaign ranked nationally. Suta completed his eligibility one of Fresno State's top student-athletes. He was an Academic All-WAC selection three times and was on the Dean's List multiple times. He wrapped up his career with 64 singles wins, including 30 his junior season, making Suta just the sixth player in program history to reach the 30-win plateau.
