- After gaining only 262 yards last week in a victory at Washington, Fresno State had 185 in the first quarter alone.
- The win was only Fresno State's second ever against a Big 12 school. The Bulldogs are now 2-9 all time against the Big 12, with the only other victory coming in 2001 at Colorado.
- Fresno State has now defeated nine BCS Conference school since 2000, the most of any non-BCS team. Of those victories, five have come on the road, two at home and two in bowl games.
- In addition, the Bulldogs have now won three consecutive games against BCS schools (UCLA, Washington, Kansas State) and are 9-6 in their last 15 contests against a BCS team.
- Fresno State has started the season with back-to-back road victories for the first time since 1984, when the team knocked off Pacific and Boise State.
- Matt Rivera's second quarter touchdown was the first of his career.
- The 31 points Fresno State scored in the opening stanza is the most in a single half since the Bulldogs put up 56 in the first half against Utah State on Dec. 1, 2001. Fresno State won that game 70-21 in the final home contest of David Carr's career.
- James Sanders' second quarter interception was his third of the year. He entered 2004 with four career INTs.
- Richard Marshall's third quarter interception was his second of the year and fifth of his career. His 30-yard return gave him 188 interception returns yards in his career, good for an average return of 37.6 per INT. The school record for career average interception returns is 27.0, held by Calvin Lane.
- Fresno State's offensive output was the most points Kansas State has given up to a non-conference opponent since 1991, when Washington posted a 56-3 victory in Seattle.
- The Bulldogs' offensive output was the most ever against a BCS opponent.
- Paul Pinegar's interception total was the most of his career in a single game.
