12th Annual Bulldog Classic - Complete Draw Information

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team hosts its 12th annual Bulldog Classic beginning Friday, Oct. 7, at the Wathen Tennis Center. The three-day event (Oct. 7-9) will feature eight schools. Admission is free and food and drinks will be available to those attending.
The Bulldogs competing in the tournament include: Senior Sergiu Modoc, juniors Jakub Cech and Charles Irie and freshman Sam Tadevosian. Along with Fresno State, the other schools featured in the Classic include Washington, Boise State, San Diego State, San Diego, UCLA, Pacific and Fresno Pacific.
With more than 40 players participating in tournament, it will prove to be a highly competitive environment. The tournament will be divided in two flights, with Bulldogs Cech and Modoc expected to participate in Flight A, while Tadevosian and Irie competing in Flight B.
The Bulldog Classic is back after being a one-year layoff due to coaching changes in 2004. But this season, head coach Jay Udwadia anticipates an exciting three-day weekend.
"We're really looking forward to hosting this tournament," said Udwadia. "There will be a high level of competition and it will be a very enjoyable atmosphere for both athletes and fans. We're excited about building upon the Bulldog Classic and making it a solid fall tournament every season."
For Modoc, Irie and Tadevosian the tournament will offer the season's first opportunity for official matches. Cech has played two matches already, going 1-1 in the qualifying rounds of the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla., earlier this week.
