FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State finished up its two-match road trip through Southern California with a 4-0 loss to 26th-ranked San Diego on Thursday afternoon at the USD West Tennis Courts.
The loss was the second in a row for the Bulldogs (9-9), who have also dropped seven of their last eight after beginning the season 8-2.
After taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3, San Diego (14-5) picked up straight sets victories in singles at Nos. 1 and 4.
The Toreros clinched the victory, which came in their home finale, when Nic Beuque took out Jakub Cech at No. 2 by scores of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The remainder of the matches still on court were not completed after the match had been clinched. Still playing when the match was finished were Charles Irie at No. 3, Nicolas Mascheroni at No. 5 and Sam Tadevosian at No. 6.
Next up for Fresno State is the team's 2005 home finale, which comes Sunday at 11 a.m. against UC Santa Barbara.
