FRESNO, Calif. - Through two rounds of the NCAA Men's Golf West Regional being hosted at the par-70, 6,742-yard Stanford Golf Course, Fresno State (295-299 - 594) (+34) stands in 19th place. UNLV (281-277 - 558) (-2) moved up to first place, while BYU (278-284 - 562) (+2) fell to second.
Ryan Carter (74-70 - 144) (+4) is leading the Bulldogs after shooting an even second round to stand in a tie for 30th place. Ryan McDonald shot another 73 for a 146 total (+6) and is in a tie for 46th. Mark Modglin (74-78 - 152) (+12) stands in a tie for 99th after shooting a second-round 78. Jon Rosa registered rounds of 75-78 for a 153 total (+13) and is in a tie for 106th. Brian Kelley (74-81 - 155) (+15) fell to a 116th-place tie.
"I compliment Ryan Carter for his solid play today, as well as Ryan McDonald who stayed consistent," head coach Mike Watney said. "This course is playing difficult. We're going to need a spectacular round tomorrow."
The top 10 teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on from the regional to the championship finals, which will be conducted June 1-4 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md.
