FRESNO, Calif. - One day after an easy 55-17 win over Weber State, the Fresno State football team jumped a spot in the Associated Press college football poll. The Dogs moved up to No. 23 in the weekly poll. It marks the third straight week Fresno State has been ranked in the AP poll.
While the media members rewarded the Bulldogs, the coaches dropped the Dogs one spot from No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Dogs remain ranked in both polls for the second straight week. Previously unranked Clemson jumped ahead of the Bulldogs to No. 23 in the poll voted on by selected NCAA coaches.
This week the Bulldogs will travel to Oregon to take on the Ducks, who are 2-0 this week after dominating wins over Houston and Montana. Oregon is receiving votes in both major polls.
The Bulldogs and Ducks have played five times and every game has been close. Two of the games went to overtime and none of the five games were decided my more than seven points. Fresno State and Oregon played in 2002, a 28-24 win by the Ducks in Eugene. The game will be televised nationally on TBS.
The Bulldogs return home on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to play Toledo, which is also undefeated heading into this week. The Rockets are the defending MAC champions and will be playing the Bulldogs for the first time.
Tickets for the Toledo game are available at the Bulldog ticket office, by calling (559) 278-DOGS or online at www.gobulldogs.com.
