Fresno State Head Coach Pat Hill
General Thoughts:
"After the first two offensive series, I thought we played very well in all three phases of the game. I thought we executed very well on offense, defense and played the way we play- Bulldog football. Obviously, we had some very big plays with our special teams and that is something we have become familiar with around here. Our coaches did a good job of preparing our players and I thought our guys did a good job of executing the game plan. I give credit to Toledo; they are a very good football team and a good program. This was a big game for both teams and there is no doubt Toledo came in here ready to play tonight."
On Bruce Gradkowski not playing in tonight's game:
"I don't think it would have made a difference tonight. I really don't. We were really dialed in to what they did. I was hoping he would play; I don't like to see any good player leave. That's just part of the game and I fee really badly because that guy is a gamer. Cochran went in there and didn't miss a beat early, he was ready to go. I bet you this Toledo team comes back and wins the MAC. They are a heck of a football team."
On Garrett McIntyre missing his second consecutive game:
"He went through warm-ups tonight because that is the kind of guy he is. He will be ready for New Mexico State and he will be ready to play. Garrett is an important guy in our defense and he is the heart and soul of it. It will be good to have him back."
Toledo Head Coach Tom Amstutz
On Starting Backup QB
"Clint is going to be a very good football player. That's our redshirt freshman you are looking at in his first start, and I thought he did an outstanding job. We just needed more help from other players."
On the Turnovers and Field Position
"There were two fumbles and the kickoff returns that gave a really talented team short fields to work against our defense. I thought that was the field position game and the turnover game and that was the difference in the football game."
On defending Sumlin and Mathis
"Both of them are really good football players. They are hard nose runners and they have a lot of weapons on the team. They were using the screen package very well tonight. They ran the ball on third-and-five, which was breaking tendencies, they did a good job, and they had a nice game plan. They have a real good package and real good players. The quarterback is an outstanding player."
Starting QB
"He was out; we don't get into the details of any injuries. Obviously you are going to miss an all-conference quarterback. But one player like that isn't any kind of excuse. We came out with the intentions of winning and playing as hard as we could. We need him next week. The MAC schedule is our number one goal and our number one focus."
On Defense
"They have a very good defense. They threw some different things at me, some blitzes, but you can expect that with a backup quarterback. The have a great defense. Every football game is always won and lost by turnovers. You have to be able to step up and move beyond those things."
