FRESNO, Calif. - Junior Jakub Cech (Prague, Czech Republic) has been invited to the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., October 3-9. Cech, accompanied by head coach Jay Udwadia, participates first in the Qualifiers Oct. 3-5 and with three victories would move on to the main draw.
"I expect Jakub to compete very well at the ITA All-American," said Udwadia. "He's coming off of some great summer results and playing with a lot of confidence. There are no easy matches at this tournament, being one of the strongest in the nation, but Jakub definitely has a chance to go through the draw. He's worked really hard to get to this point and I know it's going to pay off for him."
Cech played mostly in the No. 1 position for the Bulldogs last season. He compiled an overall record of 15-11 and a dual match record of 12-8.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2005-06 collegiate tennis season.
This year's event will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, hosted by the University of Tulsa. The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships include 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments October 3-5, which feed into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw, which takes place Oct. 6-9.
The Men's Bulldog Classic is fast approaching. The Bulldogs will host their annual fall tournament at the Wathen Tennis Center Oct. 7-9.
