Fresno State Hosts Bulldog Classic This Weekend

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team hosts its annual Bulldog Classic Oct. 13-15 at the Wathen Tennis Center. The event includes student-athletes from ten schools: Cal Poly, Fresno Pacific, Fresno State, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego, Santa Clara, USC, UC Davis and Washington.
The tournament features three singles flights and two doubles flights. USC's Jason McNaughton is the tournament's top seed. Sophomore Rudolf Siwy is the four-seed in Flight A while senior Charles Irie is slated as the six-seed. Freshman Mirko Zapletal makes his Fresno State debut at 8 a.m., facing Jonas Mouly of San Diego in the round of 32.
Freshman Tejesvi Veerepalli is the two-seed in Flight B with a first round bye. Freshman Taylor Leiby is the two-seed in Flight C and sophomore Greg Jackson battles Thomas McGee of UC Davis at 11 a.m. in the same flight.
Doubles will get underway in the afternoon. Siwy and Zapletal represent the Bulldogs in the doubles Flight A as the two-seed. Irie and Veerapali are Flight B's top-seed, while Leiby and Jackson take on Alan Kelly and Chase Oliphant of Pacific in the same flight at approximately 2 p.m.
The tournament will begin Friday, Oct. 13 and continue until Sunday, Oct. 15. Finals of each Flight, singles and doubles, will occur on Sunday. Admission is free.
