FRESNO, Calif. - Freshman Tejesvi Veerepalli advanced to the singles Flight B final and sophomore Greg Jackson advanced to the title match of singles Flight C after each won two matches during the 2006 Bulldog Classic, Saturday at the Wathen Tennis Center. Both will begin their finals at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Veerepalli and senior Charles Irie advanced to the Flight B doubles final after going 2-0 on Saturday. The Broncos' duo broke to narrow their deficit to 7-6, but the Bulldogs broke right back to seal an 8-6 victory.
Jackson played an inspired match in his Flight C semifinal. After winning the first set, Jackson lost 6-0 in the second. But in the third, he regained his composure and won 6-2, fighting off Pacific's Marco Foelz's many attempts to extend the match in the final game.
Veerepalli won in both off his matches in straight sets. Freshman Mirko Zapletal lost to top-seeded Jason McNaughton of USC in the quarters of Flight A. Sophomore Rudy Siwy beat San Diego's Tom Liversage in straight sets, before falling to McNaughton in the semis.
