FRESNO, Calif.- A light, early morning rain at Warmerdam Field is expected to continue into this afternoon, resulting in one schedule change at this weekend's 2006 Cal-Nevada Track and Field Championships.
Friday's schedule of events will remain the same, with the only change occurring in the preliminary round of the men's and women's pole vault. Today's women's pole vault prelims were originally scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with the men's event taking place at 4:30 p.m.
Instead, those two events have been cancelled and will be contested as finals on Saturday at their regularly-scheduled time (12:30 p.m.- women's pole vault, 2 p.m.- men's pole vault).
Rainy weather conditions have presented several challenges for Fresno State sporting events during the month of March, forcing multiple delays, cancellations and postponements in sports such as baseball, softball and tennis.
The Cal-Nevada Championships kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday, beginning with the men's hammer throw prelims. In 2005, the Fresno State women's squad captured the team title while the men's team placed second.
