Coming off strong finishes at the Cal-Nevada Championships, Fresno State is poised for another strong showing this weekend. Next up for the Bulldogs is an appearance at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational, which takes place Apr. 6-8 and is hosted by UCLA. The meet represents the first of back-to-back competitions in Southern California (Mt. San Antonio College Relays the following week).

Fourth Place The Spot At Cal-Nevada Championships
Fresno State checked in fourth with 90 points, trailing winner UCLA (246.50), Cal State Northridge (105) and Cal State Fullerton (95). The only first-place finish was credited to Ryan Moore. On the cusp of qualifying for NCAA Regionals all season, Moore finally broke through for the postseason when he ran a season-best 51.85 to win the title in the 400-meter hurdles. Brian Vazquez placed third in the hammer throw in the finals after notching a personal-best of 191-3 (58.30m) in the prelims. Also in the qualifying round, D.J. Haynes established a personal-best with the third-best mark in the discus at 170-0 (51.83m) to qualify for NCAA Regionals. `Dogs Sweep Dual At Mt. San Antonio College
Fresno State completed a dual meet sweep of host Mt. San Antonio College, winning convincingly on both the men's and women's sides on Mar. 24 at Walnut, Calif. The Bulldog men claimed a 123-68 victory while the women earned a 128-55 win. Fresno State claimed a first-place finish in all but five meet events (three on the men's side and two among the women). Two Fresno State athletes reached NCAA Regional qualifying standards. Adam Andresen notched a career-best mark of 5.05m to take first in the pole vault, equaling the NCAA mark. Brian Vazquez eclipsed the postseason bar when he threw 185-1 in the hammer. Jesse Smith recorded two first-place finishes (100- and 200-meters) while the Bulldog 4x100 and 4x400-m relay teams placed first.
Strong Outings Highlight Cal Poly Invitational
Fresno State's track and field squad turned in a strong outing on both the men's and women's sides on Mar. 18 at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo.
