Track and Field Wraps Up Weekend Competition

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State's track and field squad wrapped up competition at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.
Among the notable performances on the men's side: Juan Valdez running a personal-best 47.69 in the 400-meter dash; Ryan Moore crossing the line at 51.95 in the 400-meter hurdles to take seventh and Kenny Moon checking in at 48.88 for eighth overall in the 400-meters.
The women were led by throwers La'Sha Hill and Katie Richardson. Hill, already an NCAA qualifier in the shot put, threw 48-8 (14.83m) to take fourth in the event. Meanwhile, Richardson recorded a toss of 167-3 (50.98m) in the discus to place second. She has qualified for NCAA Regionals in the discus and javelin.
Other members of the Bulldog track and field squad competed at the Stanislaus Classic in Turlock, Calif. Grace Weismann (144-0 in the hammer) recorded the only first-place finish among the women while the men totaled three event winners (Jesse Smith- 100 meters, Val-Pierre Dai'Re- 14.95 in the 110-meter hurdles and Adam Andresen and Paul Lim both reaching 15-0 in the pole vault).
Next up for Fresno State is an appearance at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, Calif., next weekend.
