FRESNO, Calif. --Graham Hays of ESPN.com, a regular contributor to ESPN.com's college sports coverage, wrote a feature piece on Fresno State softball player Rachael Donaldson and her battle with cancer.
While millions of Americans are diagnosed with cancer each year, Donaldson's story is unfolded as student-athlete whose competitive nature has helped her meet cancer head on and become a model of strength in the process.
Sitting out last season after being diagnosed with stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma, the journey Donaldson took and still takes is featured.
Donaldson was honored in July at the Central Valley ESPY's Awards and in May at the school's annual Kiwanis Torch of Excellence Dinner for her courage and inspiration.
