The Bulldogs kick off their first series of the 2007 season against San Francisco on Friday, February 2 with the first pitch at 6:05 p.m. The next two games to follow will be Saturday, February 3rd at 1:05 p.m. and Sunday, February 4th at 1:05 p.m. Fresno State lost its opening first series 3-0 to non-conference opponent Cal Poly in San Louis Obispo last year. The Bulldogs will face Cal Poly next week Tuesday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs have faired well against San Francisco in leading the all-time series winning 69 games and only losing 10. Last year the Dons lost both games to the Bulldogs by scores of 4-3 and 5-2. All three games this week will be broadcast on KMJ 580, with Paul Loeffler calling the action. The games can also be followed live on the web with Gametracker, provided through Frenso State's official website, www.gobulldogs.com.

Next week the Fresno State baseball team will face Cal Poly Tuesday, February 6th at Baggett Stadium at 6:00 p.m. in a one game stand. The Bulldogs will face Stanford the same week in a three-game series starting Friday, February 9th at Sunken Diamond with the first pitch at 5:00 p.m. The following games will be on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Scouting San Francisco
The Dons were picked to finish second in the West Coast Conference baseball in the 2007 preseason poll, as selected by the conference coaches. The Toreros and Dons tied for the second place spot with 41 points apiece, with each team garnering a first place vote. San Francisco enjoyed the best campaign in program history last season, setting a program record with 39 wins and earning selection to its first-ever NCAA Regional. The Dons led the WCC with a 2.69 team ERA in conference contests a year ago, and return the league's ERA leader from last season in junior Aaron Poreda. The left-hander paced the WCC with a 2.49 ERA as a sophomore, and was named to the preseason watch list for both the Brooks Wallace and Roger Clemens Awards. The Dons finished with an overall record of 39 wins and 23 losses. San Francisco did not lose many players from last year returning 22 letterman and only losing eight. Also, are returning 13 position players and only losing three.
Recap
The 2007 Fresno State Baseball team opened its annual exhibition game against the Alumni, defeating the former Bulldog team by a score of 2-1 Saturday, January 27 at Beiden Field. Current Major Leaguer Jeff Weaver who signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners made the start for the alumni, throwing one inning, and allowing two hits. Junior Brandon Burke made the start for the 2007 Bulldogs, throwing four innings, striking out three batters and not allowing any hits or runs. Solid pitching highlighted the evening for the 2007 Bulldogs as the Alumni only recorded five hits in 32 at bats. The Fresno State 2007 squad had a total of 36 at bats and recorded 10 hits.
`DOGS ON THE AIR
KMJ 580 AM will once again be the radio home of Fresno State baseball this season ... KGPE-47 sports anchor Paul Loeffler enters his sixth season handling the play-by-play duties while 1996 Bulldog Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Steve Hosey begins his fifth year providing analysis ... The duo will be broadcasting a record number of games this season.
