Siwy Advances in All-American Qualifying Rounds

FRESNO, Calif. - Junior Rudolf Siwy opened the 2007-08 season with a win at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American, Monday in Tulsa, Okla. Siwy beat New Mexico's Graeme Kassautzki 6-1, 7-6 (1) during the first day of qualifying.
"Rudy played solid and with a lot of confidence today," said head coach Jay Udwadia. "He played within himself and was at his best in the tiebreaker."
Siwy continues in the qualifying rounds will face Mississippi's Jakob Klaeson at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
Siwy went 19-10 overall and 13-7 in dual matches last season. He was a second-team All-WAC selection in singles as he helped the Bulldogs to the finals of the WAC Championships.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2007-08 collegiate tennis season.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships include five days of qualifying events that precede the October 4-7 main draw. A 128-player prequalifying tournament takes place Sept. 29-30. This feeds into 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments Oct.1-3, which then feeds into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draws.
