Fresno State Joins Wildfire Relief Efforts

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Athletics Department and the Community Food Bank have joined together to help in the Southern California Wildfire Relief Effort on Friday at Bulldog Stadium, prior to the Bulldogs game against Boise State at 6 p.m.
The two sides are asking fans to donate food, blankets, clothes and any other household supplies that could help the victims of the Southern California Wildfires, which has displaced more than 500,000 people.
The Fresno State Athletics Department and the Community Food Bank will have tan barrels with signs posted on them at six different locations Friday afternoon, surrounding Bulldog Stadium.
"Anytime we can partner with community organizations like the Community Food Bank during a time of crisis we are proud to help," Associate Athletics Director Paul Ladwig said. "The people in Southern California need our help right now and we hope the collection barrels are filled on Friday night."
Volunteers will be at the six locations to help fans drop off their donations. Barrels will be located in:
White Lot - next to the Fieldhouse Red Lot - next to the Bulldog Boulevard entrance Blue Lot - prior to the entrance into the Stadium North Gate - just outside the ticket entrance Gray Lot - on the Southwest corner near the softball field Lot V - next to the shuttle standThe Community Food Bank will transport all donations and deliver the goods on Monday, October 29.
Fresno State will open the parking lots to Bulldog Stadium at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon and the gates to the Stadium open at 4 p.m. Kick off time for the Boise State game is set for 6 p.m.
"The Community Food Bank would like to thank Fresno State for their help and effort in making this happen," Community Food Bank Director Richard Cervantes said. "Southern California is in a time of need and this event can help provide relief for those residents."
Some specific items the relief effort is looking for include: prepared food, cots, blankets, sleeping bags and pillows, air mattresses, sunscreen, canopies, paper towels, handy wipes, toilet paper, paper plates, cups, utensils, disposable Styrofoam coolers, pet food, pet carriers, leashes, cell phone chargers and batteries.
