Fresno State vs. Cal-State Bakersfield
The Bulldogs lead the overall series with the Roadrunners 2-0-1. In the most recent meeting Fresno State tied Bakersfield 0-0 on Oct. 2, 2005. The previous two meetings were in 1997 and 1998.
Scouting Cal-State Bakersfield
Cal-State Bakersfield is 5-11-1 and in its first year of playing a complete Division I schedule. In its most recent game the Roadrunners lost 3-2 to Cal-State Northridge. Natalie Haigh leads Bakersfield with four goals and three assists while Alexa Vickroy has five goals.
Fresno State vs. Nevada
Fresno State leads the overall series with Nevada 6-1-1. In the most recent meeting the Wolf Pack defeated the Bulldogs in last years WAC championship game on penalty kicks after a scoreless regulation and overtime period.
Scouting Nevada
Nevada is 6-9-1 and 2-4 in WAC play. The Wolf Pack are led by the play of Cristen Drummond who has five goals and three assists and Karen Zmirak with four goals and five assists. Marie Cove has played all but 96 minutes in goal and has recorded 47 saves.
The Week That Was
Fresno State tied Boise State 1-1 on Friday. Nicole Gutierrez scored the Bulldogs goal. On Sunday, Amanda Reyes had two goals to lift Fresno State to a 3-0 road win over the University of Idaho.
Offensive Minded
This years Bulldog team has been more offensive minded has they have tallied 26 goals. Last year the Dogs found the back of the net 22 times and in 2005 they scored 21 goals. This year Fresno State has had four three-goal games and one four goal game.
Leaving Their Mark
This year's group of seniors have been with coach Springthorpe since he arrived in Fresno. They have helped transform the Bulldog soccer program from a 5-9-4 team in 2004 to a 13-5-3 WAC championship team in 2006. This years seniors are Andrea Alires, Chelsea Davis, Christina Gilbert, Amanda Reyes, Andrea Salvador, Megan Tennant, Aubrey Tennant and Brittany Thomas.
Moving Their Way Up the Record Books
Ali Sill has eight assists and is currently tied with Jill Pearson (2000) and Reyna Green (1999) for the single season assist record. Nicole Gutierrez is five goals away from tying the single season record for goals with 15. That record is held by Jill Pearson in 2000.
