FRESNO, Calif. - Junior Rudolf Siwy faced some tough competition during this past week. On Friday, Siwy lost to No. 41 Raoul Schwark of Minnesota in thee sets during the second round of consolation play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American in Tulsa, Okla. Siwy went 4-2 during the week that started on Monday in the qualifying rounds.
"Overall it was a positive week," said head coach Jay Udwadia. "Rudy made some great strides and I confident he will continue to improve as the season progresses."
It was a great start to Siwy's third season with the Bulldogs. Siwy, who joined the team in the spring of 2006, is the only upperclassman and is expected to be one of the top performers this year.
Siwy will get an opportunity to showcase his game at the ITA Regional in Malibu, Calif., Oct. 11-14.
The rest of the men's tennis team is currently in action at the annual Bulldog Classic. The event runs through Sunday at the Wathen Tennis Center and admission is free.
