Bulldogs Earn Academic Honors

FRESNO, Calif. - Nicole Gutierrez, Selena Gill and Aubrey Tennant have been named to the Third Team ESPN the Magazine District 8 Academic All-District team. All three players carry a 3.2 GPA or better and have been instrumental in the Bulldogs success on and off the soccer field.
Tennant, a senior from El Dorado Hills, Calif., holds a 3.77 GPA is set to graduate in April with a degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. She is a three-time Academic All-WAC selection and helped lead the Bulldogs to WAC championships in 2005 and 2006.
Gutierrez, a junior from Sacramento, Calif., holds a 3.27 GPA and is majoring in Criminology. She is a two-time Academic All-WAC selection who has been a leader for the Bulldogs in the classroom and on the soccer field. Gutierrez currently leads the Dogs offensive attack with 10 goals and four assists.
Gill, a junior from Fresno, Calif., has been a staple in the Bulldogs backline as Fresno State has recorded an impressive nine shut outs this season. She has a 3.35 GPA and is majoring Mass Communications. She is a two-time Academic All-WAC selection.
"They get it done in the classroom," Fresno State coach Steve Springthorpe said. "They get it done on the field and they have been great teammates. They do things the way they are supposed to be done as far as being a student-athlete goes. They represent the school well, the program well, themselves and their families well. A student athlete is getting the grades, getting it done on the field and doing it with a lot of class. Those three do."
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - Fresno State Soccer wraps up the 2007 regular season on the road at Nevada on Sunday, November 4th. The WAC Soccer Tournament begins on Thursday, November 8 in Boise, Idaho and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, November 11.
