| Sophomore Jennifer Shipley has been named the Toyota/gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 19. It is the second honor of the year for Shipley. Shipley (71-70-64 205) went head to head with Idaho¹s Kelly Nakashima in a playoff to win the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational title. Shipley started the third round tied for seventh with scores of 71 and 70 and moved to the top position after an outstanding third round score of 64 to finish 11-under. Shipley recorded eight birdies in the third round to get her career low score of 64. She won after a 3-hole playoff when she chipped it in on hole ten to make par while Nakashima got a bogey. This was Shipley's best collegiate finish and her first individual tournament title. Also nominated this week: Matt Ryan (Men's Golf); Kristen Sylvester (Softball); Melanie Gloria (Women's Tennis); Katie Richardson (Women's Track); Brian Vazquez (Men's Track); Brian Lapin (Baseball); and Kirsten Sohns (Equestrian).
