Zapletal Named WAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Freshman Mirko Zapletal has been outstanding for the Bulldogs this year. In only his first season, the freshman from Trebic, Czech Republic, owns a team-best 15-6 record in dual matches.

Last weekend, Zapletal went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, good enough for this week's WAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Award.

In singles, Zapletal beat Utah State's Fernando Gallegos 7-6, 6-3 and Boise State's Piotr Dilaj in the third-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0, 7-6 (6). In doubles, Zapletal and senior Jakub Cech downed Utah State's Ericsson and Tyden 8-2, then knocked off No. 52 Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj 8-4.

Zapletal and the Bulldogs will now head to Boise for the WAC Championships April 27-29.
