FRESNO, Calif. - Michael Gideon, a graduate from Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, Calif. has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Fresno State Bulldogs. Besides being a star in his Antelope Valley area he has also shined on the national stage. In a recent AJGA tournament in Las Vegas, he qualified with a 69 and then shot 70-68-68 to finish 2nd in a very strong field.
Head coach Mike Watney is excited about the potential of Gideon. "Michael brings a lot of firepower," Watney said. "He doesn't have a mental barrier against taking it under par and keeping it there. He has an outstanding swing. It's very possible that Michael could be a starter from the first tournament. I also checked his background very carefully. Absolutely everyone loves him. He works very hard, is respectful, and is a tremendous young man."
