FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's soccer player Amanda Reyes has been named WAC Defensive Player of the Week for her performances last week against Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
Reyes, a senior defender, anchored the Bulldog defense as Fresno State did not allow a goal in two matches. The Bulldogs picked up shutout road wins against Northern Colorado (3-0) and Wyoming (1-0).
Fresno State has outscored its opponents 7-0 in its three victories this season. Reyes also scored a goal in the win over Northern Colorado and has two on the season.
"Amanda had a great weekend scoring a goal and helping us get two shutouts," Fresno State women's soccer coach Steve Springthorpe said. "I am really happy that the conference has recognized her for her play. Amanda has worked really hard in the early part of the season and that hard work has helped our team get three wins, all of them by shutouts."
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State Soccer team will be on the road the next two games, playing at UC Riverside on Friday, September 21 and Loyola Marymount on Sunday, September 23. The next soccer home game is Friday, September 28 against UTEP at 7 p.m. All kids who attended the Fresno State Soccer summer camp can wear their camp t-shirt for free admission to all regular season soccer home games in 2007.
