FRESNO, Calif. - Coming off of two shut victories on the road, the Fresno State women's soccer team hopes to continue the momentum this weekend when they play at UC Riverside on Friday at 3 p.m. and at Loyola Marymount on Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday's match at Loyola Marymount marks the end of a six-game road trip, the second longest in school history.
UC Riverside leads the series with the Bulldogs 2-0-1. In the most recent meeting, UCR defeated Fresno State 1-0 in two overtimes at Bulldog Stadium last year. Amanda Reyes scored her second goal of the season and played strong defense to help the Bulldogs to the victories. Her solid play earned her WAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. It is the first award for a Bulldog player this season.
Nicole Gutierrez leads Fresno State with two goals and two assists. Reyes and Ali Sill each have two goals and one assist. In the Bulldogs three victories they have outscored opponents 7-0.
UCR comes into Friday's match with a 4-2 record. Its four wins are over Toledo, Florida Atlantic, Eastern Michigan and George Washington. Loyola Marymount is 2-3-1 and played at Cal-State Fullerton on Thursday. Gabrielle Parisella and Lauren Shanklin each have two goals and one assist for the Lions.
